Bedbugs
Common bedbug (chinch) (Cimex hemipterus) - The bedbugs living parasitically on humans have more than 20 varieties, the most widespread variety in Bulgaria being the common bedbug (chinch).
The grown-up individuals reach a length of only 4-6 mm and have a reddish-brown colour. They prefer hiding and inhabiting the spaces behind or inside wooden surfaces (furniture, floorings, etc.), whence their name is derived. Their preferred temperature is 24-28˚C.
Females lay 1-5 eggs per day throughout 2 months or a total of 200 eggs during their time of living.
Bedbugs are most often distributed, passively (at furniture and clothes transportation) and actively (through motion of their own on the inside and outside walls of lodgings).
One of the main indicators for the presence of bedbugs are the small black or brown spots they leave on furniture, walls and other objects.
